Charter Foundation, Inc.
In addition to our active community role - with CharterBank contributions and employee volunteerism - we give back to our communities through The Charter Foundation.
The Charter Foundation, a nonprofit charitable foundation, was established in December 1994 by the Members of CharterBank (formerly Charter Federal Savings and Loan Association based in West Point and LaGrange, Georgia and Valley, Alabama).
The Foundation provides semi-annual grants to eligible nonprofit organizations in our original markets to help them carry out unique, innovative projects in specific fields of interest. It is the hope of the Foundation that such projects will enhance the quality of life in those communities. The Charter Foundation makes grants in the following areas of interest:
- Community and economic development
- Human and social needs
- Environmental projection, conservation and enjoyment
- Cultural and artistic projects
In addition to the semi-annual grants, the Foundation also offers CharterBank customers the opportunity to vote for their favorite nonprofit organization during the months of June and July. The three groups with the most votes in each CharterBank region receive $5,000 each.
Last year, The Charter Foundation made grants totaling more than $367,000.
